New Krone headers aim to boost BiG X forage harvester capabilities

Krone has expanded its forage harvesting range with the launch of a new grass pick-up and maize header for the BiG X forage harvester.
The EasyFlow Plus pick-up and XCollect 750-2 maize header are designed for professional contractors and large-scale operators.
According to Krone, both headers are built to “optimise the crop flow and chop quality, while achieving maximum throughput rates, excellent wear resistance and minimal maintenance work”.
EasyFlow Plus
Available in both 3-3.8m working widths, the EasyFlow Plus extends Krone’s cam-track-free pick-up design.
According to Krone, the straight tine arrangement and rotor design “deliver consistent crop intake while minimising wear and maintenance requirements”.
Krone has built the crop press roller, adjustable swath deflector and plastic scrapers with the aim of them working together and deliver high performance in heavy crops and uneven swaths.
The company has also included stainless steel wear plates and a heavy-duty auger system to improve durability in high-wear areas.
Krone has aimed at reducing downtime with the EasyFlow Plus, so the automatic chain lubrication system and active oil pump are joined by a large reservoir to try and reach that goal.
The grass pick-up also includes a strengthened drivetrain and gearbox and maintenance-free overload clutch of the auger conveyor.
Krone said these additions allow maximum throughputs to be achieved whilst simultaneously ensuring a high level of operation safety.
XCollect 750-2
The 7.5m row-independent maize header has been designed with a focus on delivering an improved chop quality, according to Krone.
The two-piece design feeds crop directly into the forage harvester, reducing longer chop lengths and maintaining consistent performance.

The adjustable disc speeds allow operators to match changing crop and field conditions.
Despite its wide working width, the maize header folds to just 3m for transport, “making road travel and movement between farms easy and safe”.
An optional integrated transport chassis and front guard with lighting are also available to increase safety and convenience.
Productivity focus
Krone said it introduced the EasyFlow Plus and XCollect 750-2 to “enhance the capability” of the BiG X range.
The company has “presented two high-performance headers suitable for different harvesting process on the Krone BiG X forage harvester.
“The EasyFlow Plus has been specifically developed to harvest grass and convinces with high pick-up rates, an even crop flow and minimal maintenance requirements.
“The XCollect 750-2, on the other hand, with its row-independent harvesting principle, straight crop flow and easy transportability is setting new standards when it comes to harvesting maize and whole crop silage”.
